Mardie Salt
The Mardie Salt Project, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, is a major undertaking by BCI Minerals. The project aims to become Australia’s largest producer of high-quality halite (4.25 Mtpa NaCl) for sale to the Chlor-Alkali industry, alongside producing sulphate of potash, a critical input for global agricultural industries facing supply deficits.

Scope
Sedgman collaborated with head contractor Kerman Contracting on the early contractor involvement (ECI) phase to guide the process and engineering development of the salt purification process. Additionally, Sedgman provided expertise on the wider process and non-process infrastructure across the site.
Outcome
The project’s development and implementation continue to position Mardie Salt as a key contributor to the global supply chain of both halite and sulphate of potash, with Sedgman ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of key infrastructure.
