Sedgman undertook a bankable feasibility study (BFS)followed by the engineering, procurement and commissioning services for a 365,000 t/a Jaguar copper and zinc flotation plant for Jabiru Metals Ltd in Western Australia.
The Jaguar project is located approximately 54km north of the town of Leonora in Western Australia and only 4km south of the historic Teutonic Bore base metals project.
The project is a poly-metallic sulphide ore body containing recoverable quantities of copper and zinc. The 365,000 t/a flowsheet is a two-stage flotation circuit with the copper being recovered prior to the zinc. The flotation plant, involved the relocation of the decommissioned Cadjebut flotation plant with suitable modifications and additions to meet the metallurgical requirements of Jaguar ore.
Major drivers for the client were low capital cost plant capable of producing saleable quality concentrates.
SCOPE OF WORKS
Sedgman’s scope of work for the Jaguar copper and zinc flotation project included:
- Complete the BFS including test work supervision and interpretation
- Process design, capital and operating costs
- Project implementation planning.
Following the completion of the BFS, Sedgman was awarded the detailed design and procurement for the project which involved the use of the Cadjebut second-hand plant.
The Jaguar copper zinc plant was successfully commissioned in early 2007. Second hand equipment was refurbished and commissioned to achieve a very low project capital cost while meeting the difficult processing requirements.
