Eneabba
Eneabba is the highest-grade rare earths operation globally, currently consisting of Iluka’s stockpile of rare-earth-bearing minerals, such as monazite and xenotime. The operation includes phase one, which focuses on screening and concentrating the rare earths, and phase two, which builds on this to enhance processing capabilities.
Phase three of the Eneabba operation aims to expand the facility, creating a critical downstream infrastructure asset that will incorporate roasting, leaching, purification, solvent extraction, and product finishing processes. This expansion is expected to significantly increase the capacity and capabilities of the operation, positioning it as a key player in the global rare earths market.

Scope
Sedgman was engaged by Iluka Resources to provide design and commissioning services for the Eneabba rare earths operation, including the phase three expansion. Our team was responsible for the detailed design and successful commissioning of the new processing stages that will enable the operation to handle the advanced processes of roasting, leaching, purification, solvent extraction, and product finishing.
Outcome
Sedgman played a crucial role in the development of the phase three expansion, ensuring the successful design and commissioning of key processing stages. This expansion strengthens the Eneabba operation as a world-class rare earth’s facility, positioning Iluka Resources to meet increasing global demand for rare earth elements with greater efficiency and capability.
