Reliability Services
The reliability team provides services to the mining industry specialising in condition monitoring, non-destructive testing, lubrication services, and mechanical services on fixed and mobile assets. Services include the use of predictive technologies, inspection services, and equipment lubrication optimisation. Our teams utilise the latest technology and testing methods to add value by rectifying deficiencies before a breakdown occurs. The support team is available to travel to customer sites globally to provide engineering and technical support.

Condition Monitoring
The condition monitoring suite of services provides diagnosis of rotating machinery with vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis. This service will diagnose developing or pre-existing conditions of equipment by detecting the failure mode early. Vibration analysis will diagnose mechanical or structural faults such as imbalance, misalignment, looseness, lubrication issues, structural vibrations, motors defects or bearing and gear defects. Thermography will diagnose by means of detecting heat patterns, heat variations and hot spots caused by loading, wear, misalignment, lubrication issues, abnormal vibrations, and component defects. Non-destructive testing methods are used to accurately diagnose the condition of ferrous and non-ferrous materials (e.g. platework and pipework) through the detection of surface and sub-surface defects including cracking, wear, and non-compliant workmanship/quality.
Vibration Analysis
Vibration analysis is conducted to accurately diagnose the condition of rotating machinery. Data collection and analysis will diagnose developing or pre-existing conditions of equipment by detection of mechanical or structural faults such as imbalance, misalignment, looseness, lubrication issues, structural vibrations, motors defects or bearing and gear defects.
Pump Motor Vibration Analysis
(Indication of drive end bearing inner race fault)
Pump Motor Bearing Inspection
(Severe damage found on the bearing inner race – removed prior to failure)

Thermography
Thermography is a technology used to accurately diagnose the condition of rotating machinery. Thermography will diagnose developing or pre-existing conditions of equipment by means of detecting heat patterns, heat variations and hot spots caused by loading, wear, misalignment, lubrication issues, abnormal vibrations, and component defects.

Screen Motion and Modal Analysis
Motion analysis is a method used to accurately diagnose the condition of vibrating machinery (screen and feeders). Motion analysis will validate the current operating parameters of screens and feeders as well as diagnose developing or pre-existing conditions of the equipment by means of detecting mechanical or structural faults. Modal analysis is a method used to confirm the condition of the machinery or structures with regards to their natural frequencies.
Lubrication Services
Lubrication services are performed as part of Sedgman’s preventative maintenance program across all Sedgman operational and client’s sites. Some of these activities include oil level checks, oil changes, checks and replacements of breathers and single point lubricators, as well as application of grease to relevant components and equipment. During these activities it is imperative to conduct diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks such as identification of leaks and the repair or replacement of damaged, blocked, missing or broken seals, lines, fittings, and other related components.
