What We Deliver

We support environmental investigations that help clients understand project constraints, opportunities and study requirements. This can include early environmental inputs, study management, environmental risk identification, baseline information coordination and integration of environmental considerations into concept and feasibility studies.

Our work can include approvals support, approval condition reporting inputs, environmental study coordination, permitting interfaces and documentation inputs aligned to the level of project definition required. 

We help clients identify emissions drivers and practical decarbonisation opportunities early in project development. This can include emissions baselining, scenario analysis, carbon footprinting, decarbonisation option assessment, technology and financial considerations (including carbon price or regulatory cost modelling), and planning inputs that connect lower-impact choices with project realities.  

We bring health and safety considerations into early study development so options are assessed with a stronger understanding of people, delivery and operating risks. This includes structured safety-in-design processes (including HAZID/HAZOP, CHAZOP, RAMBO (reliability, availability, maintainability, buildability, operability) critical risk and functional safety assessments), occupational health assessments, critical control standards, and management-system inputs aligned with applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. By drawing on Sedgman’s HSEQ management approach, ISO-14001 certified systems and practical project delivery experience, we help clients consider how design choices, work methods and operating assumptions can influence future construction, commissioning and operational safety. 

Our risk management approach embeds risk identification throughout early development phases. Risk workshops are used to identify critical risks for management throughout the project development process and into construction and operations. These workshops draw on relevant design information, legislative requirements, project assumptions and operational experience to identify HSE hazards and risks to project success. We assess consequences and likelihood, define controls and record residual risks for management through later project phases. By applying these processes during concept and feasibility studies, Sedgman helps clients consider how design choices, external risks, construction methods, commissioning strategies and operating assumptions can influence construction, maintenance, operational safety, community and environmental impacts, and production.
