Our mature health and safety system is backed by our genuine safety-first culture, outcomes focus and exceptional performance. In addition to traditional safety considerations, this includes an emphasis on physical and mental wellbeing.
We align safety objectives and prioritise safety commitments throughout design, construction and operations, and drive a whole-of-life, team-based approach to safety.
Our Approach to Health and Safety
Our robust safety culture and continual improvement is supported by visible leadership, coaching, training, communication, rigorous risk management, and our One HSE Cultural Framework, Safety Essentials, and HSE management system.
We ensure safety principles are embedded in design to help protect teams and end users, such as reduced work at heights during project delivery and improved access for operations. Site works are managed for the safety of our workforce and the community, including proactive engagement and the inclusion of subcontractors in our safety initiatives. We carry safety commitments through to operations – because a safe project is a non-negotiable foundation for long-term performance.
We are proud to have our health and safety management system certified for compliance with ISO45001.
Supporting the Wellbeing and Mental Health of our Employees
The mental health and wellbeing of our people is an absolute priority for Sedgman.
We have developed a mental health strategy as being proactive in this area is important in minimising the impacts to our people. This has included the introduction of mental health risk assessments, rolling out training and the launch of our mental health story, where brave Sedgman employees have shared their experiences, to remind others to look after themselves and to get help if they need it. Our employees and their immediate family have access to confidential free counselling through our Employee Assistance Provider.
