Our Approach

As a part of the CIMIC Group, we are dedicated to achieving net zero emissions for Scope 1 (primarily fuels) and 2 (purchased electricity) by 2038, and net zero emissions for Scope 3 by 2045. CIMIC Group continues to rank among the best performing companies for sustainability.

Understanding the climate-related impacts of our work, and identifying solutions to reduce emissions, both in our operations and our designs is a part of our journey to get to net zero. We are reducing emissions by boosting energy productivity, reducing waste, supporting rehabilitation of degraded land, increasing the use of renewable energy and driving innovation.

We have a role to play in helping the UN achieve their Sustainable Development Goals and have aligned our ESG strategy to the areas that we can positively impact; through the way we deliver our designs, projects and services; the way we engage and support our employees; and how we manage our supply chains and invest in local community projects.

Good Health and Wellbeing

We are committed to the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, and the communities where we work. Our focus is on both the physical and mental well-being of our people, and we are committed to supporting local community health through sponsorship of trusted partners, such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Reduced Inequalities

We are deeply committed to reducing inequality in all forms and are focused on improving female participation and inclusion in our teams. Our Reconciliation Action Plan outlines our plan to contribute to important work of reconciliation and reducing the inequalities faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This includes both setting employment targets and increasing representation in our supply chain. We undertake regular risk assessments and targeted audits to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our company and supply chain. We have allocated resources to train our people on the dangers and signs of modern slavery.

Responsible Consumption and Production 

From concept through to detailed design, we are committed to lowering the impact of processing the minerals required for the energy transition. We deliver this though reduced footprint designs and using lower impact materials, as well as strategies that minimise energy consumption and water use. We are delivering options studies that not only consider capital and operating costs, but the full lifecycle of emissions.
