CIMIC Group company Sedgman has been awarded a design, procurement and construction contract by KGL Resources Limited (ASX:KGL) for the processing plant at the Jervois Copper Project in Australia's Northern Territory.
One of the Northern Territory's most advanced copper projects, Jervois is set to play an important role in supplying copper, a critical metal supporting electrification and the global energy transition.
Sedgman will undertake the delivery of the processing plant, together with commissioning and testing of the facility and associated infrastructure and services. Procurement of long-lead process equipment and detailed engineering is already underway.
The Jervois processing plant is designed to treat two million tonnes of ore per annum using conventional crushing, grinding, flotation and thickening circuits to produce a single copper concentrate.
Sedgman's appointment builds on its involvement with the project since 2017, having worked with KGL on historical testwork review, metallurgical testwork, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, value engineering, front-end engineering design and procurement activities, providing continuity as the project progresses into delivery.
CIMIC Group President and Executive Director Roberto Gallardo said:
“The Jervois Copper Project is one of the Northern Territory’s most advanced copper developments and will have an important role in the supply of a metal essential to electrification and the global energy transition.
“Sedgman's appointment demonstrates the value of bringing together engineering, procurement and construction expertise to progress strategic resource projects with certainty and efficiency.”
Sedgman Managing Director Grant Fraser said:
“Having worked alongside KGL on Jervois for almost a decade, our team has a deep understanding of the project, its processing requirements and its development objectives.
“This early involvement provides continuity as the project moves into execution and positions us to deliver a safe, efficient and high-quality processing plant that supports KGL's pathway to production.”
