In 2013, Sedgman looked to further strengthen its international opportunities by establishing an office in Vancouver, Canada. Ten years on, the Vancouver office proudly marked its 10-year anniversary with a team celebration.

Sedgman's Canada team got together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sedgman in Canada

    Looking back

A number of key Australian staff relocated to the region including the now Vice President of North America, Carolyn Hillard, to settle in Vancouver for a new adventure and opportunity in the North American market.

The office was soon busy with several new front-end studies for coal and metals projects.

    Looking forward

The services the Vancouver office offers to the North American market has grown over time to be able to provide a full service offering in both Canada and the United States of America including project development through to full project execution and operational support services.

The Pumpkin Hollow Copper Concentrator that Sedgman delivered for Nevada Copper in 2020 is a great example of the capability of the Vancouver office. More recently, we secured the C$318M EPC contract for Artemis Gold's Blackwater Gold project which is a flagship project not only for North America but the business.

Coming from Brisbane to set up the office with one person, we now have grown to over 70 in Vancouver with people also located remotely in the Elk Valley and Nevada.

From early days in coal and many studies, we are now diversifying into other commodities and project delivery.

During Sedgman’s history of over 40 years, the opening of the Canada office in 2013 has been fundamental to our success and growth.
