Diversity and social inclusion

Sedgman is committed to providing a work environment where our people feel welcome, supported, respected and heard regardless of their background, age, gender or ethnicity; and where all employees can reach their full potential and achieve their personal and professional goals.

Diversity brings a different viewpoint. Diversity can shake up the status quo and will often force thinking outside the box.

Alison Cadman, Project Manager

Our aim is to create opportunities and support initiatives to increase participation and continued advancement of women and Indigenous peoples within the resources sector.

We do this by connecting through network groups at the CIMIC Group level as well as implementing a Diversity and Social Inclusion Forum within Sedgman that is responsible for the development and delivery of targeted initiatives. We also commit to be involved in and promote International Women’s Day, White Ribbon Day, National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.

Our aim is underpinned by four strategic objectives that drive our diversity and social inclusion journey:

  • promote and improve female participation in our Group and achieve gender equity
  • increase indigenous employment and use of indigenous suppliers in our supply chain where possible
  • invest in local employment to ensure the future workforce is reflective of the country in which we operate
  • cultivate an inclusive workplace of fairness and equity which fosters the unique skills and talents of our people.

As a member of CIMIC Group, Sedgman aims to use the broad knowledge and experience within the Group to establish diversity and inclusion as a foundation of our business supported by the belief that our success is driven by our people.

Our endorsement by WORK180 reflects our commitment to equity.
