A Timeline

1980

Founded in Brisbane by John Sedgman who continued to lead the organisation until his death in 1991. Sedgman remained privately owned until listed on the ASX in 2006.

1992

Sedgman expanded to undertake its first international projects in East Senakin CHPP in Indonesia and Petangis also in Indonesia.

1998

At the Blair Athol coal site, Sedgman began the successful operations arm of the business.

2002

Sedgman joined forces with Thiess for the first time with award winning Hail Creek Coal project for Rio Tinto.

2005

Sedgman opened the Chile office in Santiago.

2006

Expanded into the metalliferous sector with the acquisition of Pac-Rim.

2007

Sedgman acquired Intermet Engineering.

2008

The South Africa office opened in Johannesburg.

2013

The China procurement hub opened in Shanghai and the Canada office opened in Vancouver.

2016

CIMIC acquired Sedgman.

2020

Sedgman celebrates 40 years since its foundation by John Sedgman.
