Acceptance testing milestone achieved

Plant Acceptance Testing was successfully completed on the first attempt, for the Stage 2 CHPP at our Byerwen site.

This milestone was achieved five days prior to the contractual practical completion date and only ten days after the commencement of load commissioning.

Thanks to a great team effort and excellent collaboration with the client and subcontractors, these significant construction and commissioning works were completed without serious injury or incident.

The finalisation of Stage 2, is the latest in a series of contracts at the site, beginning in early 2018 with the stockpile and train load-out, followed by the Stage 1 CHPP EPC, and the Operations and Maintenance contract ongoing since later that year.

At each stage, the integrated knowledge and expertise of the Engineering, Procurement, Projects and Operations teams have ensured optimal outcomes.

As noted by Simon Stockwell, General Manager Engineering and Procurement, “The project was an excellent example of capturing lessons learned and putting them into practice across all facets of the work.”

With the completion of the Acceptance Test focus now moves to Plant Optimisation and Completion of Performance Test criteria. Demobilisation from site will commence over the next month and setup for the next stage of the QCoal Byerwen program of works with the Fines Circuit Upgrade to be delivered later this year.
